I am a Counseling Intern currently completing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). My interest in counseling is rooted in a genuine curiosity about people, their experiences, and the ways our relationships, environments, and life experiences shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, person-centered, and grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect. I believe people are the experts on their own lives, and I view counseling as a space where clients can feel heard without judgment while exploring what matters most to them. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing techniques to help clients recognize patterns, explore change, build practical coping skills, and identify strengths they can use beyond the counseling space.
I am especially interested in supporting individuals navigating stress, anxiety, grief, relationship concerns, self-esteem, identity development, and major life transitions. I value working with people from diverse backgrounds and recognize that culture, family, community, and lived experience can all play important roles in a person’s mental health and well-being. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I strive to understand each client as an individual and work collaboratively toward goals that are meaningful to them.
I believe counseling does not always have to begin with having everything figured out. Sometimes growth starts with having a safe place to talk openly, make sense of what you are experiencing, and discover possibilities that may be difficult to see when life feels overwhelming. My goal is to create that kind of space while helping clients develop greater insight, confidence, resilience, and tools for navigating challenges in ways that feel authentic to them.
Outside of counseling and graduate school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends , reading, working out, yoga, music, and finding humor wherever I can. I value community, connection, curiosity, and balance, and I believe making room for the people and experiences that bring us joy is an important part of caring for our overall well-being.
